I’m Stefan, and I have been a master lucid dreamer for a good few years now. I love it so much that I created an entire website around it, and wrote several books about the skill. But it all started when I was a very young man. (About 10 to be precise). I was a fairly mischievous child, and one day I was confined to my bedroom as a punishment for doing something or other (I used to enjoy throwing things around the house, nightmare I know!). Now you can imagine that as an energetic young man ( a boy, really) being stuck in a bedroom was very boring!

I wanted to get up and do things! I wanted to fly around the house or climb trees in the forest by my old house. I decided that if I was going to be stuck in the room, the best thing to do would be to just pass the time as quickly as I knew how. What’s the best/easiest way to make time go by when you’re young?

Well, aside from being outside and having fun, it’s sleeping. I just tried to go to sleep! I laid on my bunk bed, and closed my eyes. All I wanted to do was fall asleep and then wake up the next day or at dinner time, ANY time other than now. A time when I could DO things.

But what happened? Well, I feel asleep, but it wasn’t like any sleep I’d had before. I remember this moment vividly. I opened my eyes in a large hallway. I remember thinking ‘Oh, I must have woken up and now I can leave my room! Cool!’ But where was I? I was definitely not in my room.

I figured I must be.. STILL ASLEEP! Quite a clever realization for someone so young. I looked own at my hands and suddenly felt my heart start beating faster and faster. I’M STILL ASLEEP! I can do anything! I run around the hallway and enter a field after pushing through a large wooden set of double doors.

I’m free! I look up to the sky and think ‘Can I fly here? I normally dream about flying.. Can I now? Is this real?!’ I jump up and start flying. It’s so exciting that I instantly wake up. WHAT JUST HAPPENED?! I had my first lucid dream.

Since then, I’ve had countless lucid dreams in which I’ve explored other planets, spoke to dead celebrities, visited other civilisations, time travelled, flown accross just about every major landmark or country I can think of, and much more.

It’s become part of my life, and it’s helped me develop various skills. It actually helped me pass my practical driving test much earlier than I normally would have. How? You guessed it, I just practiced my driving in a lucid dream! I would have driving lessons, and then go home and lucid dream about driving the same night.

The result? Of course I still needed the lessons but I was able to put in HOURS of extra driving practice in my dreams. My mind simulated the feel of the car, the feel of the clutch and how it all worked and I was able to practice it and ACTUALLY improve in real life My instructor was as surprised as I was.
